FISP accepts children from ages 2 to 15 (end of Middle School). There is no birthday cut-off date. Essential factors in the admissions decisions and grade placement are the following:
In all cases, final acceptance and grade level placement are subject to evaluation of all documents, including final report cards or transcripts. Screening for accepted students upon enrollment at FIS may result in changes in grade level placement.
Note: Students who require learning support must submit complete documentation, including all medical files. If you have any questions about your child’s eligibility to apply to FIS, please contact us to discuss your situation.
When space is limited in a classroom, at a grade level or in a required support service program, we give priority to applicants who have siblings enrolled or concurrently applying to FIS.
The medium of instruction at all grade levels is English. Non-native speakers of English may be required to participate in English as Second Language tests prior to receiving an admissions decision. Admissions decisions will be based on English ability, academic and behavioral criteria, and the availability of alternative educational options, and may be limited based on available space.
It is recommended that newly enrolling students and their parents meet with the Principal or Deputy Principal for class placement and course selection at least one day prior to enrollment. Families with children enrolling from the beginning of the academic year should check with the Office to confirm the dates for required new family welcome and registration meetings. If travel plans delay arrival in Paris, making it impossible to attend one of these meetings, enrollment may be delayed.
Families who find out about a move to Paris after June 1 should contact us as soon as possible. Please be sure to confirm space available in your child’s new grade level and to review the documents required to complete your child’s application.
It is often challenging to request confidential recommendations from your child’s teachers during the summer. If you think there is any chance that you may wish to enroll your child at the beginning of the school year, please do request that your child’s teachers complete the confidential recommendations and return them to us as soon as possible.
There is no commitment required on your part to begin an application. We will hold the recommendations until your plans are more certain and you send the required documents to complete your child’s application. It is the responsibility of the family to provide all documents required to complete an application.
We welcome applications for mid-year entry from students whose families are newly moving to the Paris area.
As soon as you learn of your family’s possible move, contact us for information about space availability in your child’s grade level. We are not able to "save spaces”, and try to avoid having a "waiting list” for prospective applicants, therefore we will be capable to give you a realistic estimate of space available at your child’s grade.
The documents needed to complete an application for mid-year entry are the same as for students applying for September enrollment. Please be sure to contact us if you have questions about the documents required.
Note: All students must live with at least one of their parents in the Paris region. FISP does not offer boarding facilities.
Plans change, and emergencies occur. While we try to remain as flexible as possible, please refer to our Terms and conditions listed in the detailed Schedule of fees for more details on cancelling your child(ren)'s enrollment and/or leaving the school prior to academic year end.
